German Literature Companion:

Arnsteiner Mariengebet

Arnsteiner Mariengebet, a Middle High German poem, which is an early document of the cult of the Virgin Mary. It begins with a dogmatic section on the Virgin Birth, and continues with a prayer of praise of Mary and intercession for repentant sinners. It was written in the second half of the 12th c. It has been suggested that its author was Guda, wife of Graf Ludwig von Arnstein, who founded the monastery at Arnstein on the River Lahn near Nassau.
