Plot

The necessity of inoculating against disease on a global level is apparent to most, but some governments still resist these efforts due to cultural and political differences. The attempt to vaccinate African children against polio is documented in Around the World: Global Immunization. The World Health Organization had plans to guard against further outbreaks of polio, and set out to administer 4 million doses of the vaccine. Eradication of a disease is difficult when there are groups of people who refuse inoculations based on long-held beliefs. ~ Alice Day, Rovi
