Born October 30 1944, Arsene James is a Saint Lucian politician and former Leader of the Opposition. He represents the Micoud South constituency for the United Workers' Party. James became Opposition Leader when UWP leader Morella Joseph did not win her seat, in the December 2001 elections.
He is currently the Minister for Education and Culture, having served in that position since the government of Prime Minister John Compton was sworn in on 19 December 2006.[1]
