(anatomy) A diarthrosis permitting only restricted motion between a concave and a convex surface, as in some wrist and ankle articulations. Also known as gliding joint.
A synovial joint, such as the facet joints of the vertebrae and the intercarpal joints of the wrist, which allows only non-axial gliding or twisting movements.
A type of synovial joint in which the joint surfaces are flat and allow only a gliding motion; called also gliding joint, articulatio plana.
