Désiré, Artus (c.1510-1579). Normandy priest, poet, and polemicist, whose numerous writings against the Reformers are marked by vituperative satire and parody, and illustrate the intensity and intolerance of contemporary propaganda; his Contrepoison des 52 chansons de Cl. Marot (1560) parodies and debunks Marot's influential psalm paraphrases.
