Plot

A young boy tries to escape his difficult surroundings through the power of his imagination in this dramatic short subject from award-winning filmmaker Hubert Davis. Milan (A.J. Saudin) is an eleven-year-old growing up in a chaotic and abusive environment; his parents constantly fight and use drugs, and he's tormented by bullies at school. Milan keeps his cool by focusing on a postcard of an idyllic scene in Aruba, until he thinks up a way to turn the tables on those who have been making his life so painful. Aruba was Hubert Davis's first major work after winning an Academy Award for his short documentary Hardwood; the film received its world premier at the 2006 Sundance Film Festival. ~ Mark Deming, Rovi
