Plot

Film director Fred Zinnemann (1907-97) is profiled in this documentary by his son, Tim Zinnemann. In addition to a selection of clips from memorable Fred Zinnemann classics -- The Men (1950), High Noon (1952), From Here to Eternity (1953), The Nun's Story (1957), and others -- there are anecdotes from interviews with Zinnemann dating as early as 1960, plus home movies filmed on the sets of From Here to Eternity and Oklahoma! (1954). Joining Tim Zinnemann for this 44-minute tribute was film editor Walter Murch, who worked on Fred Zinnemann's Julia (1977). Shown at the 1997 Venice Film Festival. ~ Bhob Stewart, Rovi
