Asda Mobile is a mobile virtual network operator (MVNO) in the UK, operated by Asda, using the Vodafone UK network.[1] Asda Mobile was launched in April 2007. As of 21 August 2007, Asda mobile was available in 237 stores across the UK.[2]
Asda Mobile has won awards for customer service, and for being the cheapest national mobile network. As of 28 February 2011 rival Tesco's Pay As You Go Lite tariff slightly undercuts Asda's standard charges by 2p/min and 2p/text, however is 60p/MB more expensive for Internet use.[3]

Bundles are an option Asda Mobile customers can choose to add to make savings based on the standard costs. A bundle can be purchased by a customer by first ensuring they have enough credit for the cost or purchase then texting the name of the bundle to 2732. A bundle lasts for 30 days after which any unused money is lost. new Bundles

There are many phones available from Asda, either in-store, or from their Argos and Tesco Direct competitor Asda Direct. Asda sell both unlocked and locked phones: any phone sold on the Asda Mobile network is an unlocked, customisation-free phone that is just supplied with an Asda Mobile SIM alongside it; the locked phones are locked to one of the other major UK networks and sold with their SIM and potential phone customisations. As a result of the lack of a lock-in the mobiles sold on Asda Mobile's network tend to be dearer to buy than locked PAYG mobiles [5]
Asda Mobile does not provide an unlocking service, nor for obvious reasons are any of the locked phones it sells locked to the rival Tesco Mobile network.
Asda Mobile operates using Vodafone's network. As a result Asda Mobile gives the same level of cover as Vodafone—99% of the UK for 2G, and cover in over 200 countries around the world.[6]
Asda Mobile has been awarded the Which award for best mobile network for the second year running. Results based on coverage, pricing and customer service.
