History
ADT College was established in 1991 as a City Technology College, funded by donations from various organisations including ADT, Unisys (who a building was named after), British Gas and Youngs. The school was named after ADT Security Services, who were one of their sponsors.
In 2007, the school was converted into an academy. It was named Ashcroft Technology Academy in honour of Lord Michael Ashcroft. Marcus Barker took over as headmaster from David Durban who had been the second head appointed since ADT College's establishment in 1991. Joseph McIrnerney was the school's first headmaster.
