Biography

Ashland began in the Pacific Northwest in 1991, just as grunge fever was breaking out of Seattle and into the mainstream. Despite the temptation to capitalize on the new sound, Ashland decided to go in a progressive rock direction that put them at odds with their minimalist alternative brethren. Bassist/vocalist Chad McMurray, drummer Dean Katona, and guitarists Kevin Brooks and Wayne Tapia began to release albums independently, finding a large audience on the Internet during the release of Real Time in 2001. ~ Bradley Torreano, All Music Guide
