Asikkala is a municipality of Finland. Its seat is in Vääksy.

It is located in the province of Southern Finland and is part of the Päijänne Tavastia region. The municipality has a population of 8,577 (31 March 2009)[2] and covers an area of 755.65 square kilometres (291.76 sq mi) of which 191.94 km2 (74.11 sq mi) is water.[1] The population density is 15.22 inhabitants per square kilometre (39.4 /sq mi).

The municipality is unilingually Finnish, by law since 1996.
