As-per'u-la. A large genus of Old World herbs, some cultivated for ornament.

Description
Leaves in whorls of 6 or more. Flowers small, more or less funnel-shaped, and very numerous in forking cymes.

How to Grow
Sow seeds in a partially shaded, moist site, such as a stream bank. Prefers warm weather.

Asperula orientalis
Woodruff . To 1 ft. (30 cm) high. Flowers lavender-blue, fragrant, ⅜ in. (9 mm) long, borne in terminal clusters beneath which are found leafy bracts. Eurasia. Also sold as A. azurea var. Setosa . Hardy annual.
