Assmannshausen

[AHS-mahns-how-zuhn] A German village located in the rheingau region, north of rüdesheim where the Rhine shifts north toward the town of Koblenz. Assmannshausen produces a famous and expensive red wine made from Spätburgunder (pinot noir). Internationally, these wines are not as well received as they are in Germany because they're generally lighter and can be sweet.

Wikipedia: Assmannshausen

Assmannshausen is, since the incorporation in 1977, a quarter of the "Rüdesheim on the Rhine" in Germany, located in the state of Hesse. The village has a lithium spring, baths and a Kurhaus, and is famed for its red wine (Assmannshäuser) made from pinot noir (German: Spätburgunder), which resembles Burgundy. From here a railway ascends the Niederwald.
