astable multivibrator
(ā′stā·bəl ′məlt·i′vī′brād·ər)
(electronics) A multivibrator in which each active device alternately conducts and is cut off for intervals of time determined by circuit constants, without use of external triggers. Also known as free-running multivibrator.
