Who's Who in Opera: Astrologer

Astrologer (Rimsky-Korsakov: The Golden Cockerel). Soprano. A travesti role. Gives Tsar Didon a cockerel to warn him of enemies, but later demands the Tsar's betrothed for his reward. Is killed by the Tsar who in turn is killed by the cockerel. Created (1909) by Ivan Altchevsky.
