These are the official results of the Men's Hammer Throw event at the 1956 Summer Olympics in Melbourne, Australia. The qualifying round and the final both were held on Saturday November 24, 1956.

This event produced results far above Helsinki standard and the first six all bettered the record for that year which at the time was also a world record. Harold Connolly (USA) was the winner – the first American to take the title since 1924 – by the narrow margin of 16 centimetres (6 inches) over Mikhail Krivonosov (USSR).
