Iceland is sending athletes to the 2008 Summer Olympics to compete in Athletics, Badminton, Handball, Judo, and Swimming.

She won the Women\'s high jump at the IAAF World Indoor Championships with 2.04 metres in 2004 and 2.02 metres in 2006.

She won the SPAR European Cup with 2.04 metres in 2004.

She also won the 2004 IAAF World Athletics Final with 2.01 metres.

Her personal best in major competition was her jump of 2.06 metres at Athína (Olympic Stadium) on 28 August 2004 to win the Women\'s High Jump at the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens, Greece.

Sania Mirza represented India in the 2008 Beijing Summer Olympics, in the singles and doubles women's events.

Wilfred Bungei of Kenya won men's 800 metres gold.

Asbel Kipruto Kiprop of Kenya won men's 1500 m gold

Pamela Jelimo of Kenya won women's 800 metres gold

Nancy Lagat of Kenya won women's 1500 metres gold.

In the 2008 Summer Olympics, China won the silver medal for Women's Beach Volleyball.
