Biography

Calling out such stylistic influences as '70s power pop, country, and folk-rock, Scottish band the Attic Lights formed in Glasgow in the early 2000s. The group took its name (as well as the title of its debut EP, 2005's The Attic Lights) from a dark attic that housed the band's early rehearsals, and Shiver the Trees marked the musicians' second EP release in 2006. A full-length debut album, Friday Night Lights, arrived in 2008 through the band's new home, Island Records. ~ Matt Collar, All Music Guide

Attic Lights are an indie rock band from Glasgow, Scotland, formed in 2005 by Kevin Sherry (vocals, guitar), Colin McArdle (vocals, bass) and Jamie Houston (guitar, keyboard, vocals), later joined by Tim Davidson (guitar, pedal steel) and Noel O'Donnell (drums, glockenspiel, vocals). The four-part harmonies in a number of their songs have led to frequent critical comparisons to Teenage Fanclub.[1]

A series of independent releases and live performances, including a well-received appearance at the 2007 T in the Park festival,[2] led to a bidding war between major labels.[3] The band signed a five album deal with Island[4], and released their debut album, Friday Night Lights, in October 2008.
