Biography

Following the trail of alternative pop/rock style and adding to it folk and indie rock atmospheres, Au Revoir Borealis managed to forge distinct and resourceful conceptions completed with subtle songwriting features. Borealis formed in Detroit in 1998, with a lineup consisting of Justin Van Slembrouck (guitar, bass), Stephanie Halpert (vocals), Mike Carian (drums), and Steve Swartz (guitar, bass). After appearing on the Nick Drake tribute compilation disc, Sculpting From Drake, Vol. 1, on which they played Drake's original "Fruit Tree," the band decided to enter the studio. The result was their self-released EP Tienken, which hit record stores in summer 2000. ~ Mario Mesquita Borges, All Music Guide
