Auchinawa is an anime convention based in Glasgow, Scotland first held in 2006 and the first anime convention to be held in Scotland.[1] A winter date means it does not overlap with other UK conventions.
Auchinawa 2006
The Auchinawa 2006 convention was run between the 30 November and 3 December 2006, at The Quality Hotel (known to some as the Central Hotel), which is located in the very heart of Glasgow's town centre and is partially inside Glasgow Central train station. The number of available spaces was decreased to 450 (totalling 600 people including guests and ancillaries) from over a thousand.

Additionally, standard Anime Convention events such as a Masquerade, dealers' rooms, video rooms, artists' alley, and CCG rooms were part of the convention.
In the press
Auchinawa made it into the press for being the first Anime Convention in Scotland. This was picked up by the BBC who produced a section on Cosplay which featured in the TV program Video Gaiden.[4][dubious ] The show was shown on December 5, 2006.
