Meissner, August Gottlieb (Bautzen, 1753-1807, Fulda), became a professor in Prague in 1785, and in 1805 director of the Lyceum (university college) at Fulda. He wrote plays and stories and was active as a translator. His work has a pronounced moralizing trend. Alfred von Meißner was his grandson.
