An aunt is a person who is the sister or sister-in-law of a parent.[1] A man with an equivalent relationship is an uncle, and the reciprocal relationship is that of a nephew or niece. See Cousin.
"Aunt" may also be an honorific bestowed upon individuals of any gender[citation needed] (see fictive kinship).
