Celtic Mythology: Auraicept na nÉces

[Irish, the scholar's primer]

Treatise on the origins and classifications of the Irish language, used in bardic schools of pre-Norman Ireland. Among the subjects discussed are the origin and order of the Latin and Irish alphabets, including ogham, grammatical gender, verb forms, and elements of rhyme. Sometimes attributed to the 7th-century warrior and poet Cenn Fáelad. The standard modern edition is by George Calder (Edinburgh, 1917).
