Aurora's Wedding (Fr. title Le Mariage de la belle au bois dormant).One-act divertissement of dance from Petipa's Sleeping Beauty with music by Tchaikovsky and additional choreography by Nijinska. Premiered by Diaghilev's Ballets Russes at the Paris Opera on 18 May 1922, with Trefilova and Vladimirov. Diaghilev had presented the full ballet in London in 1921 but had incurred huge debts in doing so. This shortened version was salvaged, and with scenery by Bakst and costumes by Goncharova (as well as costumes from Pavilion d'Armide) it proved very successful. It later entered the repertoire of de Basil's company and Dolin staged another production for American Ballet Theatre in 1941. After Vic-Wells Ballet staged the full-length Sleeping Princess this version virtually disappeared.
