Austin Aztex FC is an American professional soccer team based in Austin, Texas, United States. Founded in 2008, the team plays in the USL First Division (USL-1), the second tier of the American Soccer Pyramid.
The team plays its home games at House Park, where they will play from 2010 onwards. The team's colors are red and white. Their current head coach is Englishman and former English football league player Adrian Heath[1].

History
The club is owned by English-born Austin businessmen Phil Rawlins and James Couch. Originally from the UK, Rawlins serves on the board of English Premier League club Stoke City. Austin and Stoke have a formal partnership and will include sharing training information and players, with Austin acting as a potential player resource for Stoke. The Potters hope the relationship will unearth untapped American talents.[2]
Immediately after announcing their intention to join USL1, the Aztex purchased the 2008 USL PDL expansion side Austin Stampede and rebranded it as Austin Aztex U23. Wolfgang Suhnholz was named coach of the U23 team, which commenced play in 2008.
On August 8, 2008, the Aztex announced 2008 PDL Goalkeeper of the Year and former Austin Aztex U23 player, Miguel Gallardo, as their first professional signing for the 2009 season. Gallardo is signed with the team through 2011.[3]
The Aztex began their inaugural season as a professional team by playing 4 MLS teams in preseason exhibition matches. The first three games were held in Austin at Nelson Field while the fourth MLS match was in Rio Tinto Stadium on the MLS opening weekend. A fifth exhibition match was scheduled against the CONCACAF semi-finalist Puerto Rico Islanders in between their home and away series against Cruz Azul.

Chantico's Army
In July of 2008 a group of local Austin fans got together, first online than several times in pub, to discuss the formation of an Austin Aztex Supporters Group. The result was the formation of "Chantico's Army"[5], the first named Austin Aztex supporters group and the first with a presence online. Chantico's Army, which is seated in the top of Section A at Nelson Field for all Aztex home matches, are rapid supporters of "The Beautiful Game" that have various interests in different leagues around the world (US, Latin and South America, England, Scotland, Spain, Germany, Italy, etc.). This group meets at The Nomad[6] for all pre-match gatherings, and Cuatro's[7] for all post-match gatherings and watch events. The current President and Co-founder is Matthew Gray.
Los Guerreros Indigenos
Los Guerreros Indigenos (in English the Native Warriors or The Indigenous Warriors) has become the second Austin Aztex supporters group, following Chanticos Army, to bring consistent numbers to matches, starting April 21 2009 when the Aztex played the Vancouver Whitecaps. They were formed, and organized, by the local Austin branch of Univision radio, as represented by local Univision radio personality Ignacio “Nacho” Araujo, who also provides color commentary for the Aztex Spanish radio gameday broadcasts.
La Villa Azteca
The majority of the members of Los Guerreros and Los Chanticos reside in La Villa Azteca, which is the supporters monicer for the Section of the stadium they take up with their combined numbers, drums, flags, streamers,voices etc.
