Austin St. John (born September 17, 1975) is an American actor known for his role in the popular Power Rangers children's television series as Jason Lee Scott, the original Red Ranger.

Personal life
St. John was born on September 17th, 1975, in Roswell, New Mexico, to his parents Steve and Sharon St. John. He has one brother, Stephen. He is of German, native American, Irish, Japanese, Italian, and Spanish descent.[citation needed] St. John has been practicing martial arts since he was five and now holds a second-degree black belt in Tae Kwon Do, a first-degree black belt in Judo, and he also practices Shenkito and Kenpo. He is a graduate of Sunny Hills High School in Fullerton, California.
St. John has left acting and is currently working in Washington D.C. as a paramedic.[citation needed] He maintains a close friendship with his former Power Rangers castmate Walter Emanuel Jones.[citation needed]
Saban's Mighty Morphin Power Rangers
St. John's first major role in acting was in 1993 when he was cast as Jason Lee Scott, the Red Ranger in Saban's Mighty Morphin Power Rangers. He left the series mid-season two due to a contract and pay dispute. However, he returned as the Gold Ranger in Power Rangers Zeo and as a guest star in the second Power Rangers movie.
His last Power Ranger appearance was in the tenth anniversary episode where he joined nine other Red Rangers in the Power Rangers Wild Force episode "Forever Red". He was once again the original Red Ranger and reunited once again with former castmate Jason David Frank (Tommy Oliver).
According to a 2004 contest held by ABC Family, Austin's character Jason Lee Scott was voted as the greatest Red Ranger of all time. A subsequent Red Ranger contest on Toon Disney in 2007 voted Jason as the most popular Red Ranger of all.
