authalic latitude
(ö′thal·ik ′lad·ə·tüd)
(mapping) A latitude based on a sphere having the same area as the spheroid, and such that areas between successive parallels of latitude are exactly equal to the corresponding areas on the spheroid. Also known as equal-area latitude.
