Biography

Keyboardist Nick Magnus, bassist Steve Hoff, drummer Robbie Dobson, and guitarist Mark Easton made up the exceptional '70s group known as Autumn. The foursome began performing together sometime around 1976 in Portsmouth. Autumn was an impressive British progressive rock band, totally instrumental, but unfortunately its life span wasn't destined to last more than a few years. Both Magnus and Dobson had worked together in a band called the Enid before they joined forces in Autumn with Easton and Hoff. Although the group drew a lot of notice, it ended before the birth of the '80s. Autumn had recorded some tunes on eight track, but none of them were released on an album until about two decades after the band's demise. In 1999, a few tracks were gathered up and a little remastering work was done. The finished result was the short but awesome Oceanworld. Some of the tracks on this late-breaking recording are "The Celebrated," "Some Like It Crunchy," and "Court Jester."

After Autumn called it quits, Magnus went on to work with Steve Hackett, both touring and recording with the band. Dobson spent some more time with the Enid and also joined the group Hawkwind. ~ Charlotte Dillon, All Music Guide
