Ayer Rajah is an area located in the Queenstown Planning Area in the South-West part of Singapore. It comprises an industrial estate that houses several high-tech corporations and factories. The headquarters of StarHub Cable Vision is located in Ayer Rajah, together with its cable television and internet divisions. The area also houses several flatted factories, the Fusionopolis, a bus park, and the Ayer Rajah Camp at Portsdown Road. INSEAD Asia campus and the One North MRT station are new additions to the area. The Ayer Rajah Expressway passes through the industrial estate and took the name from the area.
In Malay, Ayer Rajah literally means the "raja's water" or the "king's water".
The area of Ayer Rajah is located within the Telok Blangah division of West Coast Group Representation Constituency[1] and the Member of Parliament being Minister for Trade and Industry Lim Hng Kiang since 1997, it was never located in the now defunct Ayer Rajah Single Member Constituency during its existence from 1980 to 2006.
Instead, the SMC consisted of the area of Pandan Gardens, Teban Gardens and West Coast housing estates as well as a portion of the Pandan Loop industrial estate. From 2006 to 2011, the Ayer Rajah SMC ward has been absorbed into the West Coast Group Representation Constituency[1], and the Ayer Rajah division called West Coast-Ayer Rajah[1] with its MP being S Iswaran. After 2011, the Ayer Rajah division is still within West Coast Group Representation Constituency and it is a new division.
