Geographical and personal name related to the Benjamites.

1. A Benjamite from the city of Bahurim, one of David's thirty "mighty men".

2. A son of Jehoaddah (I Chr 8:36; given as Jarah in I Chr 9:42), a descendant of King Saul.

3. The father of two brothers, Jeziel and Pelet, who joined David during his sojourn in Ziklag.

4. A son of Adiel who was in charge of the royal treasures of David. Probably identical with No. 2.

5. A town in Benjamin, probably Hizmeh in northeast Jerusalem which preserves the name, Beth Azmaveth. Forty-two people of this city were among those who returned with Zerubbabel after the Babylonian Exile (Ezra 2:24), and singers from Azmaveth took part in the dedication of the wall of Jerusalem (Neh 12:29).
