Azusa Itagaki (板垣あずさ Itagaki Azusa) is a Japanese gravure model and former AV idol.
Life and career
Itagaki was born on November 23, 1988 in Niigata, Japan. She debuted as a finalist in the 2004 All Japan High School Girl Uniform Collection System gravure contest, also known as Seikore (制コレ). In 2005 she debuted in a swimsuit gravure video, Cotton Candy, produced by Line Communications and filmed in Bali.[2]
In August 2007 she opened her official blog, 3 Minutes Cooking Azusa (あずさの3分クッキング Azusa no 3-fun kukkingu), and in September 2007 she announced her switch from gravure modeling to AV, signing an exclusive contract with the label Soft On Demand (SOD).[3] Her debut movie for SOD, Entertainer Azusa Itagaki Debut, was released in November 2007.[4][5] Despite her late start, Itagaki was one of the most popular AV actresses for the year 2007, ranking at #6 in the list of 100 best selling actresses at the video retailer DMM (part of the Hokuto Corporation).[6] She was listed in the #10 spot at DMM for 2008[7] and after a year at SOD, columnist Kemuta Ōtsubo considered her to be the mainstay of the company.[8] In 2009 she ranked at #70 in the DMM list[9] and she was nominated for the Best Actress Award at the 2009 Adult Broadcasting Awards.[10]
Also in 2009, Itagaki starred in the erotic suspense V-Cinema release Chateau - Confinement (シャトー -監禁- Shatō - Kankin).[11]
In 2010 Itagaki retired from AV. Her final work, Entertainer Azusa Itagaki retirement (芸能人 板垣あずさ 引退 Geinōjin Itagaki Azusa intai), was released by Soft On Demand on 4 March 2010.
