German family of architects and teachers. (1) Dominikus B?hm's career was devoted to the design of Roman Catholic churches in Germany, where his progressive understanding of the role of the laity in worship and his willingness to use new building technologies made him one of the most influential religious architects of his generation. From 1952 until his death he collaborated with his son (2) Gottfried B?hm, who worked both on churches and on a broader range of projects and was particularly interested in the use of space and the social function of buildings.
