1. A city which fell to the lot of the tribe of Dan when the land of Israel was divided among the tribes by Joshua (Josh 19:40, 44).
2. One of the cities fortified by Solomon (I Kgs 9:17-18; II Chr 8:6). It is mentioned by Josephus Flavius as being west of Gezer.
