Review

"Babies" was Pulp's first truly great single, an epic tale of teenage sex set to a slightly subdued but infectious two-chord guitar riff and light flourishes of synths and guitars. Cocker's lyrics are precise, funny, and surprisingly sad, as is his melody. The two B-sides, "Styloroc (Nites of Suburbia)" and "Sheffield: Sex City," are equally as impressive -- they're ambitious, both lyrically and musically, disco-pop, seedy sex epics that have enough style to make them romantic and glamourous. ~ Stephen Thomas Erlewine, Rovi
