Bach trumpet

Share on Facebook Share on Twitter Email

A misnomer still prevalent for a high trumpet with valves used in modern performances of Baroque music. The term was originally applied, in the late 19th century, to a straight trumpet in A or B♭ with two valves, then to a still shorter one in D with three (in fact half the length of the D trumpet of Bach's time).
