BackSpin is a classic Hip-Hop radio station on Sirius XM Radio. On 2008-11-12 this channel (along with The Boneyard and The Strobe) went on hiatus, however, on 2008-12-16, due to subscriber demand, Sirius XM Radio announced that this channel and The Strobe would return to the service on 2009-01-15[1].
The channel features the best of old school hip-hop and will be the home of several specialty shows including "Ladies' First with Monie Love" and "Zulubeats with Afrika Bambaataa, Mick Benzo and The Cutman LG."
On January 15, 2009, BackSpin was returned to the Sirius/XM lineup; Sirius channel 39, Dish Network channel 6039 and XM channel 65 (replacing The Rhyme). Prior to November 12, BackSpin was on Sirius channel 43. It was also on Direct TV channel 846 until all of Sirius XM programming was dropped on February 9, 2010 in favor of a new music service called SonicTap.[citation needed] On May 4, 2011, BackSpin moved to 46 on both the Sirius and XM platforms.[2][3]
