This brief Edison subject was released in tandem with Ethel's Luncheon. The story opens as an elderly man sits by his fireside with his equally aged wife. The old man offers the old lady an apple, which triggers an extended flashback to the couple's childhood. It turns out that the two fell in love when the heroine rescued the youthful apple-pilfering hero from the wrath of an orchard owner. The film ends as it begins, with the old folks munching away on an apple -- this one acquired honestly, we hope! Even back in 1909, the Edison company knew the value of nostalgia as an audience-grabber. ~ Hal Erickson, Rovi
