Review

Similar in concept to his cousin Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan's remix collaborations with Massive Attack, Badar Ali Khan's The Mixes fuses traditional Sufi melodies with contemporary dance rhythms to typically intriguing results. While the electronic beats occasionally tend toward the pedestrian, their presence never feels forced or inappropriate, and they help expand the boundaries and the appeal of Qawwali for both new listeners and longtime fans. ~ Jason Ankeny, All Music Guide
