Dictionary of Dance:

Ballet of Flanders

Belgian company founded in 1969, based in Antwerp. It tours mostly in Belgium. Its repertoire includes works by Bournonville, Jooss, de Valois, Cullberg, Flindt, van Dantzig, and van Manen, along with works by its founders, Brabants and Leclair. Artistic directors include Brabants and V. Panov (1984-6). In 1977 the company became the Royal Ballet of Flanders.
