Ballisodare, (Irish: Baile Easa Dara, meaning "Town of the Oak by the Waterfall") (also spelled Ballysadare) is a suburb of Sligo City about 7 kilometers from Sligo City Centre. Built on the Owenmore river, the area is experiencing rapid growth with many new housing developments. The village was once choked with heavy traffic before the N4 Sligo-Collooney dual-carriageway was completed in January 1998. The N59 Ballina-Sligo road still winds through the village. It is home to St.Mary's College which serves the southern evirons of Sligo City and srrounding areas of Cooloony, Coolaney and western County Sligo.
