Crow-like bird, species pyrrhocorax pyrrhocorax, with black feathers and red beak and feet. The bird, usually named with the definite article, An Balores, is an emblem for Cornish cultural identity. R. Morton Nance wrote a play in the Cornish language titled An Balores (1932). The chough is also associated with King Arthur.
