ˈbæmbē abbr. ballistic missile boost interceptor, a late 1950s idea for a missile defense system in which satellite-launched, hit-to-kill rockets would home in on the heat of enemy missiles in the boost phase and destroy them within five minutes of launching. See also Nike Zeus.
BAMBI overlapped with the Nike-Zeus program, and was canceled in 1968.
