As of the census[2] of 2010, there were 732 people, 311 households, and 189 families residing in the town. The population density was 1330.9 people per square mile (513.9/km²). There were 360 housing units at an average density of 654.5 per square mile (252.7/km²). The racial makeup of the town was 98.8% White, 0.1% African American, 0.3% Native American, 0.1% from other races, and 0.7% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 0.3% of the population.
There were 311 households out of which 26.4% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 47.9% were married couples living together, 8.4% had a female householder with no husband present, 4.5% had a male householder with no wife present, and 39.2% were non-families. 36.0% of all households were made up of individuals and 17.4% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.26 and the average family size was 2.94.
In the city the population was spread out with 25.5% under the age of 18, 4.6% from 18 to 24, 20% from 25 to 44, 24.3% from 45 to 64, and 25.5% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 44.9 years. The gender makeup of the city was 50.4% male and 49.6% female.
The median income for a household in the city was $31,055, and the median income for a family was $35,625. Males had a median income of $29,688 versus $18,929 for females. The per capita income for the city was $15,312. About 9.1% of families and 12.7% of the population were below the poverty line, including 17.7% of those under age 18 and 8.6% of those age 65 or over.
