Review

A teen pop sensation from Argentina, Bandana debuted with the Argentinean release of this 12-track record in 2001, selling 90,000 copies in less than three weeks. The five-piece outfit delivers Latin dance-pop songs and urban ballads following a trend started by the Spice Girls and their catchy "Wannabe" in mid-1996. Recorded in their native country and produced by Pablo Durand, Bandana features their first hit, called "Maldita Noche," and their smash, "Guapas." With the album's international release in July 2002, the Popstars winners joined the Latin explosion of the early '00s with Spanish-language commercial dance-pop tunes made for teenagers. Bandana is not particularly memorable, but has merit. ~ Drago Bonacich, Rovi
