Biography

Other than a pretty spiffy album cover, the group Bandera didn't really seem to have that much going for it the first time around. For quite awhile it could be noted that of all the different things out there named Bandera, the band was the least notable. There is the town of Bandera, Texas, for example, that in itself spawned the "Bandera sound," no thanks to the band, either. There is a song called "Bandera" and there was once a superb rhythm and blues label that also utilized the name. As for the band, it was an aggregation of Nashville professionals who decided to make a southern rock album.

At the center of this universe was Lore Orion, a talented frontman, songwriter and artist whose name sounds like something spawned in the backroom of a new age kiosk. Thanks to Tim McGraw, a country star from a much later era, the Bandera band may yet switch on the spotlight. He recorded cover versions of several Bandera numbers including "Illegal" for his album Tim McGraw and the Dancehall Doctors. Producer Pat Higdon must also be happy over this development, as it allows him to rewrite music business history, altering Bandera from one of his early production fizzles to something prophetic, ahead of its time. ~ Eugene Chadbourne, All Music Guide
