banger

n. Chiefly British

1. A sausage.
2. A noisy old car.
3. A firework that explodes with a sudden loud noise.

Colloquial English term for sausages. When served with mashed potatoes, the dish is known as bangers and mash.

British slang for a number of sausages originally made of ground pork and breadcrumbs, though beef bangers are also now available.
