The International Olympic Committee list of banned substances (performanceenhancing substances subject to doping controls) is generally accepted by the governing bodies of most sports. The Sept. 1994 list includes the following doping classes and methods:

It is not a comprehensive list of individual drugs; the ban applies to all compounds related to those on the list. In addition, individual sports federations may have their own list of banned substances.
