(astronomy) A peculiar, low-velocity, strong-lined red giant or subgiant star of spectral type G, K, or M, whose spectrum has anomalously strong lines of barium, sometimes with strong bands of methyldadyne (CH), molecular carbon (C2), and cyanogen radical (CN).
