Bartolomé Jovernardi

(b Rome, c1600; d Madrid, 22 July 1668). Italian harpist and theorist. He was employed at the Spanish royal chapel from 1633. He invented a cross-strung chromatic harp and a harpsichord allegedly capable of crescendo, but is principally known for his bilingual Tratado de la mussica (1634) on the classification of instruments.
