Barville is a commune in the Eure department in northern France. The family of de Livet de Barville, the marquises of Barville, later married into the family of de Thumery of Boissise-le-Roi.[1] Members of the family of de Livet de Barville were prominent in the Order of St. John of Jerusalem, also known as the Knights Hospitallers.[2] Other members of the de Livet family included Guillaume de Livet, a canon lawyer who was a judge at the trial of Joan of Arc, and Jean de Livet, chevalier and standard bearer to King Philip Augustus II of France in 1216.[3]
